Biography of Bodhidharma
Bodhidharma, also known as Damo in Chinese and Daruma in Japanese, was a legendary Indian monk.
He was born around 470 AD as the third son of a Brahmin family. After converting to Buddhism, he received his monastic name Bodhidharma. In 1527, he arrived in China and received his robe and alms bowl from the 27th Buddhist patriarch Prajnatara.
However, like many legendary figures from ancient times, the facts about Bodhidharma's life are often intertwined with fiction.
