Election
The president of the republic is elected for a presidential term of five (5) years, by universal and direct suffrage as per the 2023 Constitution amendement.[2] The president is renewable.[3] There was a two-term limit for the president in the Constitution of Gabon.
This limit was lifted for Omar Bongo in 2003.[4]
The election is won by the candidate who obtains the largest number of votes.[3]
